We recently worked with Wilco’s management on creating several promotional items for the band’s very successful Solid Sound Festival, recently held in at the MoCA.
Even though our poster for the event did get published as well as our transit bus signage, we thought it’d be interesting to show some of the process related to the event’s unpublished logo designs. As the gallery below shows, we went through several variations during the design phase. Ultimately, it was fun to work on and see where all the designs eventually got used…and we hope equally as interesting to see here (for the first time) most of the unpublished sketches and roughs we worked on.
Enjoy.

Here’s a look at our recent work for Alison Scott’s poster and album release (More details on the CD package design coming up in the near future!). We’ve included a couple of sneak peeks at the elements below, some of which are used in the package design for the album. We hand inked the lettering for the title, using an asian style brush (whatever helps!) and black water proof ink.
We teamed up with Darin Back Photography out of Minneapolis. He captured some beautiful shots of Alison (a couple out takes below). Check more of Darin’s work here: darinbackphoto.com
To learn more about Alison and pre order “Chinese Whispers” check out Alison’s web site here: alisonscott.com. We’ve heard enough off the new release to really like it, she has an amazing voice and the musicians playing with her are super talented.

For The Black Keys sold out show at Detroit’s Fillmore, we opted to honor the Motor City pretty heavily. References to the guy’s new album entitled “Brothers” are in there too, racing and all! Size is 18″ x 24″, three color screen print on thick French Paper Construction Tile Green.
Some detail shots are below…and you can BUY the poster in the Get a Clue Design Store HERE.
Cars, girls and rock ‘n roll, rev it up….Vrrooooooom, Vrroooooooom!

During a time when lots of stuff we buy seems to be coming from a host of other countries, we thought it was a timely reminder that there’s a TON of great items made right here in the ‘ol U S of A.
We think supporting all the local and regional shops and boutiques around you is an important conscientious decision that in the end, does make a difference in many ways, some small, some big.
So here’s one local event that we highly encourage you guys to check out: Indie Craft Parade!
As the site states, “Indie Craft Parade brings the best handmade artists from the Southeast together under one roof. It’s a public market where you’ll find quality crafts, local food, and opportunities to make friendships and connections with the artists themselves.” Our good friends at The Half and Half will have space there, so make sure to check out their great print work and unique poster art.
Until next time,
