Check out the latest poster design we just finished for The Honeydogs, a great band out of Minneapolis we happen to love. We also got to work on their latest EP design and will be posting some images and the “behind the scenes” creative process of that project as well.
This poster supports the band’s upcoming CD release Friday, Mar 13, 2009 at First Avenue. The band wanted a completely different style and look from the EP design we did, so we went a bit darker with gas mask imagery, lightening bolts and a very subtle overprinted robot head. We hand wrote the band name on paper about an inch wide, scanned, then enlarged it by a ton to get the desired effect. From one inch wide up to nearly 16 inches wide, yep, that will create some nice texture.
We thought it’d be cool to post some older CD package work of ours, although the band here never did quite make it big…or make it at all. But the duo that made up “Organized Confusion” seemed to have fun while making their unique brand of music, so it makes sense that we had fun working on this one. We even took the photo of the building in downtown Asheville, NC for the spread section. The band’s earlier work has been described as “sounding like two children banging on pots and pans with drumsticks while repeating a chorus until it’s pounded into your consciousness begging for sweet mercy.” Aw yeah.
Keep your eyes peeled here, because we should have some NEW CD package design work coming up very soon! A legitimate band even…go figure!
We simply would like to thank all of the fine folks that came out to see the Get a Clue Design Studio poster show last Friday. We had a great time and hope you did too. Thanks to Studio 258 Gallery also. We’re uploading a few photos from the event, and a video clip.
Howdy all, it’s late Friday and we want to be done, so we’re making this short and very sweet.
Here’s the scoop, in the form of the official press release: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
